Stardawg Seeds – A Quick History

Stardawg was created by the legendary Breeder JJ of Top Dawg Seeds. He is a well-known breeder from the 90s New York Scene.

The first release of Stardawg seeds was in 2011. As this wasn’t intended for commercial gain, it was very limited, and the father plant was destroyed soon afterward.

Since then, Top Dawg has released three more versions of this legendary strain, the last around 2016.

JJ created four varieties of Stardawg. All 4 have only ever been released as regular seeds and in very limited runs. These were:

THC Levels

THC levels can reach as high as 23%. On average, Stardawg will average around 19% THC.

CBD Levels

Stardawg was bred for its high THC levels. As a result, there is very little CBD and this clocks in at around 0%.

THC to CBD Ratio

There is no THC to CBD ratio as Stardawg rarely produces any CBD.

Indoor Yields

When grown indoors from seed, Stardawg can yield up to 4 ounces per square metre.

Outdoor Yields

When grown outdoors, Stardawg seeds can produce around 3 ounces per plant in the right conditions.

Type

Stardawg seeds are a sativa-dominant hybrid.

Their ranges vary from 90% sativa/10% Indica to 60% sativa/40% Indica.

Flower Time

This strain will flower indoors for around 67 – 73 days.

Outdoors, flowering is in around mid-October.

Height

Average height is around 4-5 feet (120cm – 150cm). But Stardawg has been known to grow up to 7 feet (210cm) tall.

What are the genetics in Stardawg seeds?
  • The original Stardawg seeds were a cross of Chemdawg #4 (mother) and Tres Dawg (father).
  • Stardawg 91 takes the original Stardawg and crosses it with Chemdawg 91.
  • Strdawg IX uses the Corey Haim phenotype and crosses it with the original Stardawg.
  • The final version, Star Dawg 4.0, goes back to the original cross of a Chemdawg #4 crossed with a different Tres Dawg father.

A strain with this much hype and renown must have won a number of awards, right? Actually, from what I have found, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
